Terms of Service
Last updated 2026-08-08
These terms govern your use of Signatas. They are written to be read, not to be hidden in. The short version: we produce tamper-evident signing records, we are not a law firm, and you pay only for what you send.
What Signatas is
Signatas produces tamper-evident signing records. When a document is sealed, we can later show that the document, and the account of how it was signed, have not changed since. That is the service.
Signatas is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. We cannot tell you whether a particular document may be signed electronically, or whether a signature will be accepted by a court or registry. Those questions depend on the document, the parties and the jurisdiction, and they need a qualified lawyer. The eligibility flags in the product are signposts to help you ask the right question — never an answer.
What a signature here does, and does not, establish
A standard (Tier 1) ceremony records that a document, in a specific version identified by its fingerprint, was opened and affirmed by someone holding a single-use link sent to an email address. It records what happened, tamper-evidently, and when.
It does not, on its own, confirm the identity of the person who signed. Holding the link is evidence of access to that mailbox and nothing more. Where identity must be established, that is a higher assurance tier and a separate, larger charge — and we will tell you so before you send, not after.
Credits, and how they are charged
Signatas is paid for by credits. One credit sends one ceremony. You are charged when you send a document for signature — not per signer, and not again for reminders, delegations or re-sends within that ceremony.
A credit is used at the moment you send, whether or not your signers go on to sign. Chasing a signature is something only you can do; we do not absorb the cost of a document that was sent and not signed. No credit is used when we are the reason nothing happened — an eligibility block, a failed send, or a system error costs you nothing.
Credits expire after 6 months without use. Sending any ceremony resets the clock on your whole balance. We show this before you buy, on your receipt, and here. Credits are not transferable between accounts and are not redeemable for cash.
How long we keep your evidence
We keep the evidence for a completed ceremony for 7 years, so it remains verifiable long after signing. Longer retention is available as a paid option. You can ask us to erase your account and everything in it at any time, and we will.
Acceptable use
You may not use Signatas to send documents you have no right to send, to impersonate anyone, or to break the law of a place that governs you or your signers. We may suspend an account we reasonably believe is being used this way.
Availability, and the limits of our liability
We work to keep Signatas available and correct, but we do not promise it will never be unavailable or never contain an error. Nothing in these terms excludes a liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, our liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Signatas after that means you accept the updated terms.
